The Space is an atmospheric, multi-purpose theatre set in a delightful and architecturally significant 19th century converted church.

We are available for hire for performances, rehearsals, film and photo shoots, conferences, parties, wedding receptions and more. We are an accessible building with the Space Bar attached and parking spaces available. Hirers have access to tables, chairs, PA system, lighting and a Steinway B grand piano.

The Space offers subsidised rehearsal space in London, Zone 2.  

Spacious, well-lit , with great acoustics, a high ceiling and on-site parking, the Space offers wheelchair accessible rehearsal space.  

Facilities include tables, chairs, PA system, and wifi. 

A member of staff will be on site for the duration of your hire.

Rates and availability
The Space is normally only available during the daytime, Monday – Sunday. 

The following rates all include VAT. 

Rehearsal Rate:
£24 per hour  

This is our subsidised rate for all companies and artists wishing to rehearse at the Space (a 20% reduction on our lowest room rate of £30).   

Additional Services  

Use of piano:
£60 per day (kept in situ onstage)
£90 per day (moved offstage) 

Use of projector:
£24 per day 

Use of printer or photocopier: 10p per sheet  

 

We are also available for film and TV hire.

Filming Rate:  £48 per hour (including VAT)  

The Space hosts over 200 performances annually, most of which are theatre productions, with occasional music, dance or comedy events. Those interested in performing at the Space can either apply for a box office split (read more about that here) or hire the venue.

Facilities/Services included are flexible seating, PA system, stage lighting, dressing room, box office/FOH, marketing support (entry on our website and inclusion in our newsletters/social media) and free wifi.
Additional services include use of Steinway B grand piano, projector, printing/photocopying.
We also have the possibility of livestreaming and recording your performance, giving you the recording for your use.

A member of staff will be on site for the duration of your hire.

The Space is available during the evening, Tuesday – Sunday, we tend to programme 2-6 months in advance. Daytime performances may be possible.
All prices have VAT included.

Room charge:
£240 per performance

Admin fee:
6% of box office total (the hirer receives the remaining 94% of the box office)

Livestream and recording services:
£360 per session

Use of piano:
£60 per day (kept in situ onstage)
£90 per day (moved offstage)

Use of projector:
£24 per day

We ask hirers to complete this Arts Hire Proposal Form and send to Adam Hemming.

 

We are able to provide space for a wide range of meetings and workshops, offering many different layouts and set-ups depending on your needs.

Facilities include tables, chairs, PA system and free wifi. We are able to offer drinks or Tea/Coffee packages through the Space Bar.
Additional services include use of projector and printing/photocopying.

A member of staff will be on site for the duration of your hire.

As a charity we are able to provide a discounted rate for Community interest groups.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you able to host wedding ceremonies?
At the moment, our license means we’re not able to hold wedding or religous ceremonies. We hope to be able to change this in the near future – but for now, we can offer a great place to have your wedding reception!

Can I bring my own caterers?
Yes, but they won’t have access to a kitchen onsite. The kitchen on the premises belongs to the Space Bar, who use it for their own company and to provide food for the bar upstairs. If you’re bringing a cold buffet or food with heating equipment (e.g., burners), then it’s absolutely fine to have your own caterers. Our recommended local caterers are Smiths Catering.

Am I able to bring my own alcohol?
The Space Bar hold our alcohol license for the premises, so all alcohol must be purchased through them.

Is there parking?
We have four parking spaces onsite. On-street parking in the local area is free after 6pm and all day on the weekend.

Will there be a staff member on site?
Yes – there will always be a staff member onsite during your hire to ensure your event runs smoothly.

Can I bring a live band or DJ?
Yes! We have a working PA system and can patch in DJs or a live band, as well as microphones for those important speeches. Please let us know if you have any technical requirements in advance so we can make sure these are set up for you.

Is set up time included?
We charge an hourly rate, so please factor set up and pack down time into this when calculating your budget.

What’s the latest we can have the space?
We are licensed up until midnight, except on Sundays when hires must end by 10.30 pm.

Can I bring my own chairs and tables?
We have chairs and two kinds of tables (trestle and cabaret) included in our hire price – but you’re absolutely welcome to bring your own if you’d prefer!

Am I allowed to decorate?
Yes, but please bear in mind we’re a listed building. We respectfully ask that you don’t use any fixings which cause damage to the space (e.g. bluetack, nails) and that the hall can be returned to the state you found it in.
