We have all heard of “spiritual awakenings” but have you ever seen one LIVE, in front of your very own eyes?  

THE VOID is an absurd comedy show about meditation and spiritual enlightenment. Using the humour and irony of bouffon and clowning, the piece pokes fun at ‘new age’ spirituality and the hypocrisy that exists within it.  

Starring three, ultra-conscious, badass women, this is a comedy show like no other… 

Throughout this guided meditation, our highly advanced “Spiritual Practitioner” will have to battle her “Ego” and face the terrifying, existential emptiness of THE VOID in order to become a truly Enlightened Being.  

The mind is full of surprises… this meditation is not what she expected. 

Watch her fail or succeed with her spiritual endeavour in this explosive, and sometimes poetic, show that includes dance, stage combat, and highly advanced breathing techniques.

Three women. Three fools. One theatre company running Amok.  

Theatre Amok is a physical theatre company founded at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in 2022. Blending in the theatrical mediums of clowning, bouffon and theatre of the absurd, our intention is to explore the human experience with curiosity and demonstrate the absurdity in our everyday lives and societal structures. 

Annie Lockerbie Newton (Canada) and Tone Nybø (Norway), co-founders of the company, collaborate with Charlotte O’Reilly (Ireland) on Amok’s second project, ‘THE VOID’, to create an internationally diverse team wherein each member brings a plethora of skills and expertise. 

THE VOID has been presented at the Norway Clown Festival in Oslo and Scene + Heard Festival of New Work in Dublin. It will also play at Brighton Fringe May 14-16th and Peckham Fringe May 17-18th.
