In a world full of expectations, and seemingly endless possibilities, is there really any space for your own wants? It draws parallels between past and present to truly ask the question- maybe there is no such thing as society, after all?

A contemporary translation and feminist adaptation of Lorca’s Yerma set to the backdrop of Margaret Thatcher’s England, Second Wave Feminism, and post-modernist theatrical elements.

The creative team come from a variety of backgrounds, with the production borrowing elements of their own personal experiences, as well as the interviewed experiences of others. They aim to unpack the stereotypes pushed upon women in the 1980s amidst Thatcherism and Second Wave feminism, including the pressure to be the iconoclastic “Supermum”, as well as highlight how the conversation surrounding a woman’s so called “purpose” has come full circle with the modern trend of “tradwives”.
