ScriptSpace returns for 2017! We’ve selected some brand new plays to be read by our team of professional actors. Each reading is followed by feedback and discussion with the playwright. ScriptSpace readings are open to the public and free to attend, space is limited so advance booking is recommended.

Upcoming readings (all at 7pm):

31st July

Hoarding It by John Murtagh

Connor’s spent the past five years travelling around Southeast Asia. Now he’s back in Shepherd’s Bush to see family, an estranged drunken father and a sister who demands to know why he left.

7th August

The Crag by Helen Parker

People jump off the Crag. In a small and broken fishing town, the stories of curses, ghosts and shipwreckers begin to blur into reality as the lives of a junky, a policeman, and the local karaoke king collide. No one is ever what they seem, and every story has a twist. Some, enough to snap.

14th August

Hunters by Ben SantaMaria

A fierce mix of LGBT Londoners join forces in Soho to fight escalating gang attacks. How far should you go to protect yourself and your community? Can you ever be a hero, let alone a superhero, in the dirty real world?

21st August

Four O’clock Flowers by Louise Breckon – Richards

Two mothers come together one long evening and attempt to piece together the recent events of a serious knife crime that has affected both of their lives. The play asks how parents can heal after suffering such grief and loss as they struggle to forgive each other and ultimately themselves.

28th August

Man-Child by Simon Brett

Arthur and Sam haven’t seen each other in 15 years. When Sam allows Arthur to stay in his flat for to two nights, Arthur must fight to make up lost time.

‘Man-Child’ is a two hander which explores identity, mixed relationships and what it means to be a man through the eyes of father and son.

Past feedback for ScriptSpace:-

“It was great to hear the play out loud for the first time and all the feedback was extremely useful.”
John Hill, Playwright of How does that make you feel?

“I loved Scriptspace. The small, intimate and friendly atmosphere and talented actors made a massive positive impact on my play. I loved hearing The Lighthouse too and very proud to have given feedback on its first draft.”
Mike Carter, Playwright of The Trunk
