Red Hare's Wish Livestream

15 Aug - 15 Aug

168BC, Imperial China, the final years of the Han Dynasty.

Struggling through a time of famine and unrest, frustrated by her own inaction, Liu Bei, a sandal maker, joins the army with her sworn brothers, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.

Cao Cao, a fugitive wanted for the attempted assassination of the tyrannical Lord Regent, schemes his way into the rebelling Coalition in a bid for power.

Lu Bu, a psychopathic warrior under the Lord Regent’s employ, struggles with a lifetime of violence and envy as he falls in love with a woman who hates him.

With compassion, wit, or cruelty, they each attempt to shape a kingdom that embodies their ideals as their paths converge.

Based on iconic characters from Chinese literature, this original stage musical features new compositions combining traditional East Asian motifs with retro-modern polish.

Um Actualee is a theatre collective focused on celebration of East Asian culture but also mixing in contemporary elements. This unique blend oriental tradition and occidental modern motifs defines the artistic approach of Um Actualee.

The company is founded by Enrico Liou and Jialun Qi. Enrico graduated from East 15 Acting School with a Master in Theatre Directing. This is his directorial debut as the head of a musical project. Jialun Qi is an engineer based in Western Australia who has been writing music for over a decade.

This piece that we are presenting will be an advanced showcase of Act 1 but we’ve altered and added on to it to make it feel more like a complete story. We will be hosting a feedback session after every show with the Director and Composer.
