Portia’s Julius Caesar On-Demand

5 May - 5 May

This is the recording of the online livestreamed event, book for 23:59 on the 5th to receive on-demand access.

Fertility, loyalty and family are explored in this female-centered adaptation of Julius Caesar. As the republic teeters on the brink of a monarchy, Portia, the wife of Brutus, defies the odds to protect those she holds dear and risks everything for the democracy she believes in. The story of Caesar’s ambitious reach for power is refocused towards the women of Rome in Shakespeare’s political thriller about the price we pay when we fight for our beliefs. Playwright Kaitlyn Riordan’s script welcomes a slew of new characters into the narrative including Brutus’ Mother, Caesar’s mistress, and the working women of Ancient Rome. Utilizing text from the Shakespearean canon, sonnets, and poems, Riordan weaves a fresh take on Julius Caesar that resonates with our world today.
