27 Jun - 27 Jun

Was there ever a story of more woe than that of being a teenage girl?

June, Sydney and Bea are busy balancing school, family, and friendships, when their lives are thrown into disarray by the death of their Nan. In the face of an impending funeral, they turn to old family photographs in an attempt to navigate their grief.

Through interweaving monologues, these three sisters grapple with life, death, loneliness and the dizzying trials and tribulations of teen life. What do we reach for in times of change? What do we begin to remember when things start falling away?

From award-winning director Sam Smith (Scenes with boys) and their company Mad Jacks Theatre, this revival of Cherry Eckel’s debut play is an intricate and heartfelt exploration of girlhood, grief, and the horrifying revelation that your parents are people too.

Moving, pretending, rethinking and confronting, Mad Jacks Theatre are an award-winning company who strive to challenge modes of queer and gender-expansive storytelling through new-writing, formal experimentation, and movement-inspired work.
