Night Train
18 Feb - 22 FebTellus Theatre Company presents Night Train!
A new physical theatre production written by Oliver Ellard, directed by Zoë Boyd, original music by Mukti Murton, and original choreography by Noa Zatta and Leah Zhelyazkova.
This philosophical comedy revolves around Maia, who wakes up blindfolded and bound to a chair at the back of a train with absolutely no idea how she arrived there. Befriending a Chorus of merry morons, they discover that their train is nothing like the trains back home – journeying through countless carriages, facing a series of dilemmas, curious characters, and confusing signage. Maia and her unruly troupe seek answers to questions like – Who’s driving? How do we get off this train? And most importantly – What is the true magic in a Sandwich?
Exploring the range of comedy through slapstick, puppetry, and occasional tumultuous chaos, this show is an absolute must-see for anyone who adores or abhors trains!
Tellus Theatre Company is a multidisciplinary collective whose international origins have led to a theatre that is inclusive of storytelling traditions from around the globe. We met at East 15 Acting School in 2021 and began our collective training under Dr. Ramiro Silveira, a theatre director from Brazil, who fed our deep-seated desire to push the boundaries of our medium and explore beyond the periphery of our upbringing. This unites us in a deep regard for all theatre and performance art across cultures. And it is through our respect, admiration, and desire to collaborate that Tellus emerged in 2024. This company houses creatives who specialise in music, dance, physical theatre, and cultural and masked performance. We work to expose new generations of both theatre-makers and lovers to a theatre more inclusive of our world’s storytelling traditions.
