Lear Alone

17 Jul - 17 Jul

Lear Alone uses just King Lear’s lines from the First Folio of Shakespeare’s tragedy to explore themes of loneliness, ageing and homelessness: a study of one man’s vulnerability as he confronts and negotiates a digital world. Created in partnership with Crisis UK and supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Lear Alone is the theatrical realisation of And Tomorrow Theatre Company’s Off West End Award-winning web series. ‘LEAR ALONE asks for a theatre that is unafraid to be explicit about its moral and political persuasions: a theatre that refuses to leave anyone on their own.’ (Observer)

Originally formed in response to Brexit, And Tomorrow maintains a defiantly international outlook.

As a theatre company negotiating the post-pandemic landscape, we are keen to be ahead of the curve in creating work that can be presented both digitally and on stage. We also wish to develop our name as theatre makers with access as a core value.
