Passenger wants to talk to everyone …
Too bad they picked the London Underground as the place to start trying …
And they can’t get out of their own head …
And they can’t stop wondering who these other travellers already are …
Perhaps a gummy bear can help with their confidence, a rod puppet to syphon off their worries…
But even then, what are the right words, the right thoughts, the right moments to connect?
Why do they feel so alone? What possibilities lie in these brief instances?
What exists in the gaps between us?

Fresh from training with Frantic Assembly, Gecko Theatre and Theatre Re, Sam Morris’ first solo production GAPS welcomes you into the mind of Passenger.

Through physical theatre, puppetry and dance, GAPS weaves heart and humour in an honest and earnest exploration of loneliness, what it means to connect and the ‘spaces between’ intimacy.

Sam is a performer and theatre maker from the East Midlands, whose work focuses on
combining physical movement, puppetry and dance to explore the human experience, through extraordinary worlds, humour and heart.

Starting on the stage in 2016, he’s collaborated with several Midlands-based theatre companies 一 including The Nottingham New Theatre, Strickland Productions and PhoneBox Theatre 一 as an actor, writer and director. He performed at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017-2019, including the five-star physical comedy ‘Escape for Dummies’.

In 2022-2023, Sam received support from Arts Council England through DYCP funding to
further develop their movement and puppetry practices – leading to training with Frantic
Assembly, Gecko Theatre, The Little Angel Theatre, Temper Theatre and Theatre Re.

GAPS is Sam’s first solo production.
