Gallows and Children is a visceral exploration of power, resistance, and the cost of revolution.

The play unfolds in two colliding worlds: the grotesque, absurd realm of politicians, where power becomes spectacle, and the raw, physical world of student revolutionaries driven by poetry, slogans, and urgency. At the centre stands the gallows, appearing and disappearing like a haunting spectre, a constant reminder of what is at stake.

Three actors embody six characters, each performer carrying both an oppressor and a revolutionary within a single body. This duality exposes the fragile balance between idealism and brutality. Through heightened physicality, movement, sound, fragmented speeches, torn manifestos, and shifting spaces, the play creates striking imagery and an intense theatrical language.

Inspired by the resistance movements of 1970s Turkey yet resonating globally, Gallows and Children refuses easy answers, asking what happens when power and resistance collide again and again.
