The Emerge Festival shines a spotlight on emerging dance and physical theatre work, all created by choreographers and theatremakers from a rich mix of experience.¬† Over the two week Festival, there will be ten¬†brand new premieres, five in each week.
Now celebrating¬†its 5th year, the Emerge Festival has supported over 50 of the brightest new choreographers in the UK. Many works that premiere at the Festival have¬†gone on to tour the UK and beyond, so this is the place to be catch exciting new work in its first outing.
Produced by C-12 Dance Theatre, who actively recognise the importance of supporting emerging, risk taking and passionate artists presenting new work.¬† The Emerge Festival has an essential place within the dance theatre community that use a supportive framework that enables the makers of the new work to understand, develop and realise the potential of their work.
Ben Logan, Friction Dance
Grinding Gears by Friction Dance Theatre, choreographed by Ben Logan, looks into the bleak routine of humanity. We‚Äôre clockwork, ticking on, day-to-day. Are we just cogs in place, powering the machine?
A Love Story presented by MCDC (Michael Cisarikova Dance Company), takes us on a journey about love and attachment in the digital age, are we more devoted to our gadgets than our loved ones?
Centre Point, choreographed by Misa Koide, explores human feelings which are always moving to different places and trying to get back to a comfortable place. This piece explores the emotion and the reason behind this.
Land(e)scape choreographed by Konstantina Skalionta is a poetic duet that takes you on a journey through accumulated memories and emotions, unlocked through the act of walking. The work explores the strong instinct of survival and what makes people keep going.
Sabrina Gargano and Verena Schneider
Infinite You choreographed and performed by Sabrina Gargan and Verena Schneider; explores the concept of multiple souls that make up one personality and the struggle of facing these. Using physical theatre, imagery and martial elements they create a beautiful, collaborative work.
