The Battle of Stockton

On 10 September 1933, trade unionists, members of the National Unemployed Workers’ Movement, the Communist Party and the Independent Labour Party united with local working people to stand against Mosley’s British Union of Fascists. Together, they drove the fascists back across the River Tees, refusing to let hatred and division take hold in their town.

Created by the Battle of Stockton Campaign and narrated by Marlene Sidaway, President of the International Brigade Memorial Trust, this powerful short documentary brings to life the inspiring story of ordinary people who stood together to defend their community and values.

The screening will be introduced by Michael Cook of the Battle of Stockton Campaign, followed by a Q&A with director Dan Smith and producer Sharon Bailey of Unite the Union.
