All Anna wants is to finish her degree, have fun with her friends, and navigate the rosy romance of her first love, Jack. But who keeps pulling her away from them? And how will their shared student house fare when they all find out?

As Anna struggles to keep her picture perfect life from falling apart, the cracks only seem to get bigger. Is she the one pulling away from her friends, or have they given up on her? Jack loves her, but maybe that isn’t enough anymore. As things crumble around her, is there anyone but herself to blame?

A story of friendship through strife, A Picnic Indoors delves into the isolating world of sexual assault, a world where three women pit against each other and pull together in an attempt to win against a society where their well-being and their safety has never been a priority.

With this project Citrus Jar is aiming to create theatre that portrays messy women, imperfect women, women who have cut parts of themselves out to fit in with society and those who refuse to do so. As a brand new theatre company we are committed to centring
marginalised genders on and off stage, in order to make work that opposes patriarchal oppression and serves those endangered and forgotten by society.
