Physical Workshop

This is the seventh and best yet in a highly successful series of bi-monthly Scratch Nights or innovative Physical Theatre curated by Theatre of Inspirations. These events showcase five pieces of innovative work created by practitioners of Physical Theatre –mime, dance, physical comedy, circus, and you are invited to discuss the work and give your feedback afterwards with the performers. A Little Lunch Music Wed 9th June 12noon – 2pm £5 including lunch, £1 recital only

ALLM Sark Trio

You simply cannot miss the last concert in A Little Lunch music serie: The Sark Trio is an exciting new flute, viola and guitar trio formed by students at Trinity College of Music. Ronan MacManus (viola) is a graduate from The Royal Scottish Academy and is a keen Orchestral and Chamber Musician. Since starting his masters degree at Trinity he has recently been working with ensembles such as The Orion Orchestra, London Arts Orchestra and The Mahler Orchestra in which he holds the position of principal Viola. Ruth Wawszczyk (flute) is currently in her third year at Trinity studying under Emer McDonough and Julian Coward. She recently participated in a successful masterclass with the world famous William Bennett during his summer flute course. Plans are being made for her previously formed Wawszczyk Quintet and dynamic flute and soprano duo, Eudaimonia. Ruth enjoys studying and performing many genres of music, orchestral in particular. Grant McFarlane-Dowse (guitar) is currently studying with British guitarist Graham Anthony Devine and has participated in master-classes with many great guitarists notably with Cuban composer and guitarist Leo Brouwer. Grant has played several concerts in South East London in both solo and chamber concerts – notably with the recently formed Delaney Guitar Quartet and Sark trio.

Workshop: Introduction to Japanese Traditional Theatre Sat 12th June 1pm – 4.30pm £40/£25 (concession/drama teachers)

‘A great preparation for the forthcoming Kabuki show at Sadlers Wells featuring Ebizo Ichikawa XI’ What does Japanese theatre mean to you? Is it colourful and extravagant Kabuki? Or still and simple Noh? Or maybe it is the spectacular and breathtaking productions of Yukio Ninagawa. They are all Japanese. And there is one thing which pierces through all these seemingly different styles of theatre – the formalisation. This workshop will not only teach you some Japanese theatre moves but also how forms can serve your acting skills. led by Tanroh Ishida, the Artistic Director of London-based theatre company “Tea Leaf Theatre”. Tanroh Ishida has trained in Noh / Kyogen theatre since he was three years old before moving to England to study Western styles of acting at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His UK credits include The Kyogen of Errors (Shakespeare’s Globe), Kyogen – Raw and Uncooked (Edinburgh Fringe Critic’s Choice), and as Movement Consultant for the Southwark Playhouse’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

C.A.M- LON

A concert by one of the UK’s newest ensembles, dedicated to the performance of challenging contemporary art music from the 20th century onwards. In this concert, ensemble wreckhead will perform works by Iannis Xenakis, Ashley-John Long, Luke Starkey, David Aldridge and Adam Bell. Consisting of a quintet of clarinet, cello, double bass, percussion and piano, ensemble wreckhead’s first London performance will be a concert of five works, Roscobeck by Iannis Xenakis and the world premiers of four newly commissioned works.
