Its mission: to strengthen our community and empower individuals through theatre.
SpaceWorks delivers free workshops and production opportunities for all members of our community, whatever your age or experience. Industry professionals will guide you through a multitude of different disciplines, whether you want to learn performance techniques or the realities of working backstage. So far we have trained our members in performance, directing, scriptwriting, lighting design, costume design, stage management, set design, physical comedy, sound design AND arts admin. And we want to do more.
SpaceWorks has three levels – the Space Cadets (7-11 yrs), Space Youth Drama (12-16 yrs) and WorkSpace (adults). Professionals and absolute beginners meet to mentor, support and inspire each other, leading to public showcase performances and full-scale productions. Please read more about the different groups to see what opportunities are available (registration is open all year round, but please note places are limited for each term so we will book you into the next available course).
SpaceWorks has a pool of experienced actors, directors, designers and facilitators who are passionate about quality community work. Please contact us to arrange bespoke workshops in schools and local community centres.
